Radiohead- Music Report

I researched the band Radiohead, a group of English boys that were contributors to the introduction of the music category that we call “Alternative Rock”. They made their mark in the early ‘90s with the hit song Pablo Honey. The song consisted of snarled guitar energy with soft-then-loud music tactics. Lyrics were written to make listeners think imaginatively and to interpret the song openly. Songs usually start with simple instruments like an acoustic guitar. This eventually this turns into a mellow energy while still producing loud volumes with contributions from electric guitars and drums. During pauses the music would slow down and lose volume. Usually the volume and energy is highest when the band is singing a lyric which connects the song to a meaning. This contributes to the history of music because this is one of the first bands to produce this type of vibe that creates an intellectual experience. This is laster categorized as "Alternative Music/Rock". People tend to dance and socialize to this music because it allows them to think but also tune the intensity out. As the ‘00s started the musical style was still strong. This can be shown with the releasing of the song “True Love Waits”, a romance song that had experimental textures. The guitar would randomly be off tune and scattered as the flow of the song is not affected. Variations of volume and intensity remains present in almost every song the band produces. These are the songs that kept Radiohead relevant and popular. Technology continues to be created in order to produce clean and interesting tunes that listeners enjoy today. Radiohead is apart of the musical genre history by challenging technology to capture their interesting beats and intense lyrics.
