Radiohead- Music Report

I researched the band Radiohead, a group of English boys that were contributors to the introduction of the music category that we call “Alternative Rock”. They made their mark in the early ‘90s with the hit song Pablo Honey. The song consisted of snarled guitar energy with soft-then-loud music tactics. Lyrics were written to make listeners think imaginatively and to interpret the song openly. Songs usually start with simple instruments like an acoustic guitar. This eventually this turns into a mellow energy while still producing loud volumes with contributions from electric guitars and drums. During pauses the music would slow down and lose volume. Usually the volume and energy is highest when the band is singing a lyric which connects the song to a meaning. This contributes to the history of music because this is one of the first bands to produce this type of vibe that creates an intellectual experience. This is laster categorized as "Alternative Music/Rock". People ten

Final Project- Video

Image
My goal for this video was to create a parallel between the time I work on the collage project and my life outside of art and technology. This was done by taking videos from routes I take at school and some playful humor. I deviated from the norm by going to a grocery store in a bathrobe and towel then proceeded to buy shampoo. I received interesting looks from other customers and definitely sparked up laughter. Audio was not included because the background noise coming from each clip is relevant to the pace and energy that consumes my life. There is a playful and fun feeling when watching me cut out pictures for the collage because of the music in the background. Julia and I show a playful mood in the videos where she is cart wheeling and when she is videoing me. The voices and laughter in the grocery store clips are essential when it comes to expressing how the norm was broken and I was out of place. Overall, the video expresses what we have been learning in class. The collage s

Collage Assignment

My picture was originally me and my father walking on the beach. I made it into a collage by incorporating pictures of my dogs into the image. I substituted me and my fathers heads for my golden lab Casey. I then proceeded to substitute the people in the backgrounds heads and body parts with images of my puppy Chloe. The sand was then covered in both dogs tongues. My inspiration for putting Chloes eyes in the sky came from the book and now movie, The Great Gatsby. I believe this is a quality collage that can represent how close me and my dogs are as well as me and my father.

Grid Project

I chose to make a pixelated version of a Greek island. Even though it was challenging at times to match the colors I believe this pixelated version is similar to the printed image I was trying to mimic. I used post it notes that were colored, some of them were colored on in order to perfect the colors. I did not color every post it note because the original ones emulated what the actual color was better than the markers. It was fun putting together this project and it was also interesting to learn what it takes to create a pixelated image on photoshop.

Aeneas and Dido essay

Amanda Basco Gregg Perkins Art and Technology 11 January 2019 Aeneas and Dido The famous opera is based on Book IV of Virgil's Aeneid and takes place around 1689. The story consists of two lovers who face challenges because they are both royals in different countries. Originally the couple would marry and stay at Didos palace but a sequence of events happen which makes the ending contrast the plot and eventually creating scenes that turn fatal. Aeneas and Dido differ from other operas because it is filmed like a television show. A mainstream opera can be watched live, but because Aeneas and Dido was filmed it was able to have different sets, props, and other costumes that would be featured differently at a normal opera. While watching the opera I noticed things are more expressive when it comes to opinions and emotions. Since everything is sang points can be emphasized greater and there are more people evoking ideas and opinions. There is more unity among the cast as

Stop Motion Film

This film was done by me and Julia Christensen. The plot was two friends doing yoga together and presenting gifts to one another. We incorporated the advantage we had of disappearing into thin air and making it look like we were popping back into the scene from different spots. The props used were a plant and a picture that represented relaxation and peace. This project was not what we expected it to be but we both enjoyed the challenge. On our first try we took too many pictures making the movie look like it was a time lapse. We improved that as well as the different things we did within the scenes. Overall it was a fun activity to do and learn.

21st Century Smartphone

Cell phones have globalized todays society in countless ways. Not a minute goes by without a message being sent, receiving a call, or feeling the weird buzz the phone makes when a social media notification is being received. Most people today could not imagine a life without cellphones. The company Apple has created one of the worlds best selling smartphones, laptops, and other devices that make life easier. The products tend to be popular because of the way it turns every device into a personal cellular device. Even though the world is consumed with this new form of technology this was not always how things were. The first form of communication was the telegraph in the 1800s. This was used in times of war and when communicating to family and friends when in a long distance situation. It is safe to say this form of technology paved way for several different kinds of communicating devices. The first telephone was created by Alexander Bell in 1876. At this time the phone could not take p
